Guiding Young People from Potential to Purpose

At Christad Foundation, we believe that education goes beyond the classroom. Young people need guidance, encouragement and role models who can help them understand their strengths, explore opportunities and prepare for the future.

Our mentorship programme connects students and STEM volunteers with professionals, tutors and experienced mentors who support their academic, personal and career development.

We Mentor

Why We Mentor

Many students have talent and ambition but lack access to people who can guide them through important educational and career decisions. This is especially true for students interested in mathematics and STEM, where classroom learning is often disconnected from real-life opportunities.

Through mentorship, we help young people:

  • build confidence in mathematics and STEM;
  • understand how their skills apply in the real world;
  • explore careers in data, finance, engineering, technology, education and research;
  • improve their CVs, interviews and professional communication;
  • develop leadership, problem-solving and teamwork skills;
  • prepare for higher education, internships and future careers.

Our Mentorship Model

Our model is built around a “Maths+” approach. This means we match mentees with mentors based on their interests, goals and possible career pathways.

Mentorship usually runs for one academic year, with mentors and mentees meeting once a month for focused conversations. These sessions may cover career planning, CV and LinkedIn support, interview preparation, professional confidence, real-world applications of mathematics, and future opportunities.

The programme follows four broad stages:

  1. Career Mapping and Goal Setting
    Mentees reflect on their strengths, interests and future direction.
  2. Professional Branding and Skills
    Mentees receive support with CVs, applications, interviews and communication.
  3. Maths in Action
    Mentees explore how mathematics and STEM are used in real-life careers.
  4. Transition and Future Planning
    Mentees prepare for further study, internships, work experience or career opportunities.

Mentorship for Our Volunteers

Our STEM volunteers support Christad Foundation’s Maths Club, Summer Camp and other educational activities. In return, we provide them with mentorship, training and development opportunities.

Through the scheme, volunteers can gain:

  • career guidance from experienced professionals;
  • leadership and teaching experience;
  • support with CVs, applications and interviews;
  • exposure to STEM and education opportunities;
  • networking and professional development;
  • recognition for their service and contribution.

What Mentors Do

Our mentors are professionals, educators, researchers, tutors and experienced individuals who want to support the next generation.

Mentors help mentees by:

  • sharing career insights and personal experience;
  • explaining how STEM skills are used in the workplace;
  • giving feedback on CVs, applications and presentations;
  • helping mentees set goals and take action;
  • encouraging confidence, discipline and resilience.

A mentor is not expected to have all the answers. What matters most is the willingness to listen, guide and encourage.

Our Values

Our mentorship programme is guided by:

  • Respect
  • Commitment
  • Confidentiality
  • Growth
  • Real-life learning
  • Service to community

We want every mentoring relationship to be safe, purposeful and empowering.
